Description: Rates of children and adolescents presenting to EDs with acute mental health concerns have skyrocketed in recent years. This education session will outline a clinical approach to evaluating suicidal youth in the ED, in particular how to assess safety to discharge. In addition, it will provide an overview of the children’s mental health system of care and offer strategies for navigating this system to obtain appropriate care for youth in crisis.
