Clackamas Fire District (OR) – EMS Medical Director
(Independent Contractor Opportunity)

Clackamas Fire District is requesting Statements of Interest and competitive bids from qualified physicians to provide EMS Medical Director services as an independent contractor (1099). This contracted opportunity supports a progressive fire-based EMS system serving approximately 250,000 residents across a diverse 300+ square mile region.

The contracted Medical Director provides clinical leadership and system oversight, including protocol development, quality improvement, provider credentialing, education, and collaboration with regional EMS and healthcare partners. This role works closely with District leadership to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care and continuous system improvement.

Key Elements:

  • Independent contractor (1099) services agreement
  • Anticipated annual compensation: $80,000–$110,000
  • The estimated time commitment is approximately 8 hours calculated on a monthly average, including required in-person engagement, such as participation in case reviews, ride-alongs, and crew training activities.
  • Active involvement in field integration, CQI, and EMS education

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Oregon physician license
  • Eligibility as a Supervising Physician under Oregon Administrative Rule
  • Experience in EMS medical direction or related clinical leadership

Emergency Medicine Opportunity – Mercy Medical Center, Roseburg, OR

Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available
Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg is a Level III Trauma Center seeing an average of 115 patients per day. Our department staffs 70 hours of daily provider coverage, with physicians averaging 1.8 PPH, supported by strong specialist availability and exceptional collaboration with nursing and hospital leadership. Construction is underway to expand the ED from 32 to 40 beds, reflecting the hospital’s ongoing investment in emergency care.

Compensation & Partnership

  • Average total compensation: ~$280/hour
  • Model: Fixed hourly rate + quarterly productivity distribution (based solely on your own charges — no seniority weighting)
  • $150,000 sign‑on bonus for a 4‑year full-time commitment
  • Part-time sign‑on option available
